Like d4s said, the complexity lies in the many ROM types.
HiROM and LoROM are not radically different; it's even possible to simply convert a LoROM image to a HiROM one.

I can remove the usual Genesis territory check from 32X games (manually; there's no algorithm that will work for patching all games). I'm not totally aware of what protection or incompatibility exists ... |

The biggest (technical) obstacle to an SNES flash cart is the lockout scheme in the SNES. This has been reverse engineered by some of the copier manufacturers, but the algorithm doesn't really seem to ... |

If the idea is to use it with the existing Tototek design, it would be far cheaper and easier (a handful of 7400/4000 series logic vs. a full-blown embedded system) to build an IDE+CompactFlash interf ... |
