Hi guys,
I have to apologise if this question is answered elsewhere, but I have not been able to find a thread about this elsewhere.

I am trying to put a very small .BIN file onto my MD-PRO flash cart, around 1.5 kilobytes in size.

When I open the ROM in DreamWriter(GENESIS) 2.1, it reads the file as being "0 mbit" in size, and then when I go to flash the cart the program says "Read beyond end of file" and the write is unsuccessful.

I am using a MD-PRO Flash Cart with the programmer that came with my MegaCart.

Does anyone have any hints or ideas?

Thanks so much for your time.

I don't use DreamWriter, I use ucon64. You could try that, or you could try to pad out the length of the file to something DW likes better - say 128 KB.

Thanks very much for your help. I padded the file by first using a bin2hex program and then a hex2bin program with a padding option to bring the file size up to 2 mbit, and it works!

It's a little odd that it doesn't automatically pad the file - maybe in the next revision. Laughing

Hmm yeah.

Do you know if there is an easier way to pad .bin files than having to first convert them to hex and then back again? I looked around a bit but I couldn't really find anything.

I think ucon64 will do that. Maybe you should try ucon64 and see if you like it. It's more up to date than DreamWriter anyway.
