I can't find any utilities that will allow me to convert .smc roms to SF7 format. uCon64 could do it, but it lacks a front end and I have had a VERY difficult time getting it to work in Win XP. I need to find either another utility or some type of front end that I can use with uCon64. The one on the uCon64 homepage doesn't work and I can't find any older versions of it either. (I really need uCon64 1.9.8.3...) Can anyone help?

You will need to go to Sun's Java page and download the Java Plugin for windows.
The front end is on the Ucon home page.

Make sure you have the location in your "all options.config"

I have ucon64 and everthing in one folder. And it works great in XP.

FILE: AllOptions.cfg
DATE: 29-7-2002
UPDATED TO: uCON64 1.9.8beta3

This file includes all the options and consoles.
It is setup as an XML file. Tags are used to indicate what kind of data
comes next. Every opening tag MUST be followed by a closing tag. All the
text between an opening tag and a closing tag is interpreted as the data
belonging to that tag. I used tabs to make the file readable, but they
are not neccesary.

The <OPTION>-tag indicates the start of a section that descibes an option.
Subtags can be:
- <BUTTONTEXT> Text to display on the button. DEFAULT = ""
- <DESRCIPTION> The tip to display when mouse is over button. DEFAULT = ""
- <OPTIONTEXT> The uCON64 option associated with the button. DEFAULT = ""
- <NEEDSROM> YES means the action requires the ROM-field to be set. DEFAULT = NO
- <NEEDSFILE> YES means the action requires the FILE-field to be set. DEFAULT = NO
- <CONSOLETYPE> The consolename this option was intended for (should be previously
Defined by the <CONSOLE>-tag). DEFAULT = ""
- <ISTOGGLE> Defines it's an extra option, that can be used in combination with
other options. DEFAULT = NO

The <CONSOLE>-tag indicates the start of a console description
Subtags can be:
- <NAME> A name for the console. DEFAULT = ""
- <FORCETAG> The option that uCON64 uses to force recognition for this console. DEFAULT = ""

Subtags that are not embedded in the Main-tags (CONSOLE or OPTION) are ignored, as well as <GROUP> tags
within an OPTION or CONSOLE tag. If any sub-tag is omitted, it's default value will be used.

Note: If an <OPTION>-tag uses a consoletype that has not been defined by a <CONSOLE> tag,
the option wil not be visible for any console selected.

Comments can be inserted anywhere in the file. If a line does not start
with <CONSOLE>, <OPTION>, <GROUP>, $ or one of the subtags named above,
it will be interpreted as comment. This also means an openingTag should always
be the first text in that line, or else it will be ignored. Comments are allowed
everywhere in the file, so for example:
- <CONSOLE> this is a console
- <NAME> simple </NAME>
- </CONSOLE> end of definition
is allowed.

The <GROUP>-tag is only usefull for options that can be toggled. If two or more options can not be
selected at the same time, just put the <GROUP>-tag before and </GROUP>-tag after those options.
This will automatically deselect any selected option in the same group, if another option in that
group is selected.

The problem is that the front end doesn't work with 1.9.8.4...do the modifications that you've made make the front end work with the newest version?

Cool! I got to work with the new version! You just have to put "ucon64.exe" under the $DEFAULT_UCON_PATH$ variable. Thanks!

UCON64 does not do games over 32m
I use a real old tool called "snestool." If ucon does not work.
I tries star ocean Ucon 64 would not do it and Snestool split it into 6 files proper.

uCON64 1.9.8-4 Win32 (Visual C++) 1999-2004
Uses code from various people. See 'developers.html' for more!

So, we meet again ;-) To avoid repeating myself, see this reply.
Saying that SnesTool splits Star Ocean properly is misleading. uCON64 *can* split a dump of Star Ocean in SWC format. It just cannot convert the _two_ (AFAIK) LoROM games larger than 32 Mbit to _GD format_.
