I have no experience with mgd2, but i've used goteks in all manner of stuff including snes copiers (specifically Super Magicom and Super Wild Card).
The replacement firmwares (HxC and FlashFloppy) are well advanced at this point, there's probably not much left in the world that they don't work with now |

The floppy drive in the MGD2 is a 26pin Mitsubishi, very rare to come by. Most of the 26pin drive use a FFC ribbon so I guess you could use an adapter and one of those drives you find in external USB floppy drives.
As for FlashFloppy, I asked Keir a while ago and he added support for the 1756KB FU format so yes it should be fully compatible. Again you might need an adapter or modify the MGD2 to use 34pin.
Also I noticed the HxC software now has "Bung Mgd2" listed to create those 1756KB floppies. These are not mandatory, you can use regular 1.44MB but it was a specificity of the MGD2 so it's nice to have. |
