I see that tototek sells this chip :
CIC-161 Chip (Japan) for SUPER-FLASH 64M Card

Is this chip only for japanese versions or does it work with european versions of the snes too?

If you have a PAL-console, you'll need another Chip. You can desolder one from another usual game-cartridge. I needed a PAL-chip for my german SNES. So I desoldered mine from another Super Mario World-cartridge I got for 3Euros (used)...

The CIC is a regional-protection to prevent you from using US-NTSC and japanese cartridges on your PAL-console... Would be quite useless protection if you could still run a cart with a foreign CIC, wouldn't it?!

Just to clarify, NTSC CIC chips (like the CIC-161) work for both Japanese and US SNESes. The PAL CIC is different.

You can desolder a PAL CIC from a SNES cart like FloBo and install it on your Super Flash, or you can use the Super T-Connector and plug a PAL cart into it along with the Super Flash (then you could run the Super Flash without a CIC chip because you are using the CIC from the PAL cart on the other branch of the T). I prefer having a CIC chip on the Super Flash because you don't have to mess with the T-Connector.
