SW7:

With MKE cdroms being dead, hard to source, and frankly no longer reliable (my last two have died), they are not a great option anymore. I suspect the only approach here would be to mod the bios (or run homebrew?) to control the parallel port?

DX2:

Perhaps more viable with its in-built IDE support. Sadly, it only supports the early Kingbyte interface for IDE. This is no longer made or available from kingbyte, and no current devices use it. DiskDuals are no longer made. It should be possible to recreate the interace.

Either way, it is increasingly near-impossible to get a HD or CD working with either of these devices.

The preference to IDE is that this would allow CF-IDE devices to used easily.

For the GDSF6 and SF7 you have the parallel port that your PC can send ROM images to the backup device through, so you could probably make your own device to send the data you need to over the parallel port. The thing is, it may be cheaper for you just to find some cheap ass laptop or something to do that. Wouldn't that be the easiest solution anyway?
