|
|
Hello There. In a few weeks I'll have my own GD7 (Thanks, Tomy), but I still have a small problem: The power Supply.
I've read an scanned version of the SF7 manual, and it says that the adapter needed must be 10V 1.5A
It looks a bit too powerful... Searching a bit more, I ended in DigitPress, where they have a Power Supplies database for game devices, and the GD III appears in the list:
Game Doctor SFIII by Bung SNES/SFC Backup Unit
Rating 9VDC, 1A
Plug type coaxial ??mm/??mm
Polarity Center negative
Alternative Atari Jaguar
TurboGrafx-16
I'm not exactly an specialist in electricity, so a few years ago, when I blew my US Snes (I Live in Europe) power supply, I went to a Electronic parts shop (Radio Rhin), and there The gave me one of those adjustable power supplys, adjustable to the 10 volts the Us Snes uses, and with a resistance of 800mA (The US Snes Power Supply is 850 mA).
So, no problems until today. Could this same power supply be used with the Game Doctor, or would I need another one with 1A?
I need some help... I don't want to blow up anything again... (Las time it was due to an Stepdown Converter that reduced to 125W instead of 110). |

I use an universal stabalized power supply for my SF6. You can buy it everywhere here in Germany. I can use it from 3 - 12V and it has 1,2 A. And i have several plugs in addition. I also can use a Master System 1 power supply. It fits.
On the back of SF6 stands: 9v-12, 850mA-1.5A. I also use an US Super Nintendo with a MD1 power supply and there stands: Output: 10V 1.2A.
Jaguar has Output: 9V 1.2A.
My tip to you: your stabalized power supply should not be under 1.2A. _________________ The Mad Gears must pay!

Would a spare SNES AC adapter work? Figured I'd save myself a trip to Radio Shack since I have an extra. |

I tried with an NES power supply. It is the same for Super Nintendo. Output:9V 1,3A. But no polarasition stands on it. I tried it but my Game Doctor made a very strange noise. It's still alive. It didn't worked with Super Nintendo power supply.
Just use an universal adaptor with 1.2A. That's all. I think it would cost 10-15€.

Radio Rhin in Bilbao, right?
Which plug do you have for your universal supply for your US Super Nes. I haven't found it here in Germany. Can you make a photo? _________________ The Mad Gears must pay! |

The NES power supply is AC! You're lucky the Game Doctor is still alive, I've heard that can damage some electronics quite badly. |

Ok, but I forgot to mention one thing: That universal power supply isn't universal animore. I picked a damaged US Snes power supply, cut the conector plug and soldered it to the universal supply.
I'll post a photo later today
Yes, the shop is in Bilbao... i forgot to mention that I live in Spain. |

To use the Game Doctor you really should pickup a MegaDrive 1 power supply. You shouldn't be cutting apart wires and soldering them. Especially for something as important as power. You don't have to use that specific power supply, but you should make sure whatever it is supplies power within their specs. Likewise with the SNES, you should use a power supply that is meeting their specs. Remember that the Amps supplied just has to meet or exceed what they want. But Voltage and polarity need to match. Though wih Voltage the system should be somewhat tolerant alittle above and below.
You definitely shouldn't just try to be cheap because you can end up having to replace your equipment if you mess up with the power. |

I'll go with MottZilla on that. I use the Sega model 1 genesis/megadrive power supply for my SF7 and it's perfect. The great thing is they are ALL over ebay for a few dollars. Get two, keep one for later |

The problem here in Europe is that you can't buy an European MD1 power supply separately. I bought one fo US MD1. The problem is now that it's using 110V. We need 220V. Additionally I need a voltage converter and an adaptor for the plug. It's much too complicated. _________________ The Mad Gears must pay! |

Why are there so many posts on something so basic? Get a power supply that outputs 9v DC at 1A, center negative. This has been discussed plenty of times on here as well as other sites. |

see, what I did? I ran your post through the anti-douchebag filter
sometimes answering a question can be SO easy... why add the complications of douchebaggery? |

Because only a douchebag asks such a ridiculously basic question of such unquestionable douchebaggery, of which has been covered numerous times in the past for several douchebags, of less questionable, more honest douchebaggery? |

My point was, take a note from some other people on here who have been here forever who I will not name... people who show what true patience and willingness to help is, regardless of the frustrating nature of repetition.
There is absolutely NO need to be an asshole about anything because we're not talking about politics, were talking about extremely obscure game hardware.
If I wanted to read people being discourteous to one another I'd go to Maxconsole. |
