I recently purchased a 32M Wildcard DX2 and its 32M,
does anyone know of a tutorial on how to upgrade it to 64M?

also does it require any soldering or can i just remove the old 32m dram chip/s?
and replace it with a 64m chip?

or can i add another 32m next to the original 32m chip?

also what kind of dram chips can be used with the dx2?

Many thanks for reading. Smile

There is no tutorial on how to upgrade the RAM, in fact, probably nobody but FFE can do it, the daughterboard has a custom memory decoder chip as well as many jumpers made of solder, for anyone to even attempt to figure the upgrade out, they'd require a 64M SWC. Your choices are to buy a 64M SWC or ask FFE to upgrade it for you.

I have both a 32mb and 64mb dx2, so thought I'd upgrade the 32mb version.

Unfortunately, the boards are completely different - layout, labelleing, size - even some of the non-ram chips are different.

The 64mb version also includes kynar wire patches to the dx2 mainboard - the 32mb version does.

I note that the 32mb ram board has no jumpers to be (de)soldered either.

I suspect I may just have different revisions on the ram board - would love to know more. What I really want is a pic of a 64mb ram board that is of the same layout as my 32mb board - if it even exists...

SWCDX only can do 32M. Technically they are 34M but 2M for RTS I do believe.
