That should work. Mine looks similar to that. Hopefully, that one will supply power to the adaptor via the IDE cable like mine does. |

Hi All,
As I told you I ordered a cf to ide adapter.
The one in my last post.
And great it works well
I just finished the installation !!! with a cd 16 Mo , I'm waiting for the 2go (transcend 2GO for 10€ => the best controller)
Thanks you again eastbayarb for all your tips.
2 Go is enough for roms I really want, So I don't think I will cut the baby to change cf
It's just great!!!! |

Hi,
I actually bought the same one... But it doesn't work!
I have a 2 GB Transcend 133x CF card with it.
I hooked it up using a molex -> molex + floppy power splitter cable.
When I turn everything on, the light on the CF > IDE adapter lits, but I can't browse the contents, format it, view info, etc. The SWC DX2 OS just gives "ERROR". A harddrive is working fine for me. So I'm wondering what I've done wrong...
Tried master and also slave. Tried with a CD-drive attached and without, etc. |

Hi,
Just funny, I bought too the 133x transcend 2Go, and it's shitty.
I have an old CF 16Mo NIKON, and it works well.
So I will buy the same as eastbayarb.... Adata 2Go (80x or lower)
I think the lowest speed....

What exactly did you get?
When I turned the DiskDual on, the light was on (red light). Everything seems to work normal.
But whenever I try to access the CF card from the SWC DX2 OS, it makes this funny sound and says "ERROR" on the screen.
Is it the same for you?
Do you think it is the speed that causes it to not work?
Let's make a list of media that will not work, I can add this one to the list already:
I think I'm gonna search for a Kingston 2GB 80x one. Would that be a good choice?
I bought the Transcend one because DX didn't have any Kingston ones in stock... DX is cheap, love it. <3 |

Hmm, now that I look in some descriptions.. I see:
Quote: |
- Ultra-fast 133X performance with dual-channel support
- Conforms to CF Type I standards
- Data transfer rate(R/W): max. 45MB/s - 21,5MB*
- Supports Ultra DMA mode 0-4**
- CompactFlash 4.0 compliant
- Built-in hardware ECC technology for detecting and correcting errors
- ATA interface
- Low power consumption
- Multi-platform compatibility
- RoHS compliant
- Lifetime Warranty
** Note: Default setting: Ultra DMA 4
|
Maybe this is the problem. Gonna search for a way to change the DMA mode.. Maybe that makes the difference.
And I know the CF card is working, because in my NES PowerPak it works 100% fine. |

Good Job Eastbayarb, Silver et al. !
Did you try to plug in the CF/IDE adaptor instead of the cd-drive in the DiskDual? Is it compatible with ATAPI devices?
In other words, would it be posibble to put 2 CF/IDE adapters inside the DiskDual in replacement of both the HDD and cd-drive at the same time?
That would be Superbe ! |

Does it allow you to use 2x 2 GB CF, so you can have 4 GB of games? |

I guess that would require a RAID function natively in the CF/IDE adapter, to add both CF disks into one logic drive. Otherwise, it will be recognized as 2 distinct drives, and thus might not work.

Anyone tried this setting yet? |

That's why we ask if 2x 2 GB works... Read before posting please.
The DiskDual allows for 2 IDE devices to be connected. Usually you'll connect a CD/DVD player and a HDD. But we are wondering if 2x HDD or 2x CF can also be connected. |
