I posted here long time ago. My problem is that my LPT simply doesn't work with ANY ToToTeK device. I talked Tomy many times, and we didn't find a solution.

I tried the copiers in other PC's with good results. Mine's not.

Althought the LPT is set EPP mode (even try ECP+EPP) and all the XP options are good configured I can't flash any single data without corruption.

Recently I have bought a PCI LPT Card but the damn drivers does not allow me to set the EPP mode, so I can do nothing. It's hilarious, you can only set the mode with the MS-DOS or NT 4.0 drivers. Of course, this information was not in the auction.

Advices? I'll try anything.

Try another partition with 98, or NT. Or, try another parallel card WITH EPP.

I've tried in Windows ME and nothing. I will try in NT 4.0, but I'm not sure the software runs there.

ME, 2000, and XP were the first Win OSs to have indirect access to the parallel port. Win 95, 98 (and 98SE), and NT had direct access, so NT should be OK, since it's based of WIn 95.

You will have just as much luck with ME as 2000 or XP, I would imagine.

Win95-Me should have direct access. It's the NT based operating systems NT3 or 4-XP that don't.

Megacart's tool uses a dll to access the port...
http://products.genny4ever.net/updates/tools_exe___.zip
(use at your own risk).

Just plug all, run the exe and do protocol>printerport> select your port adress
then do protocol>printer

It should find your mdpro, i'm not sure, but there is a thin hope.
If it find it, you may be able to flash a rom (up to 24meg, no sram features) on your cart.

As i said, use at your own risk... but it may work.

First of all, the cable is fine and it works perfect in my friend's PC (who has XP SP2).

Second, my built-in LPT DETECTS the MD-PRO but I have always problems flashing... corrupted data. Tomy made for me a new programmer but nothing. That's because I thought about buying a PCI LPT card. The problem is that I can only set it to EPP with the NT 4.0 driver.

So problem numer 1: I don't know why the hell my built-in LPT don't work, it should.

Number 2: Since I can't configure the LPT PCI card to EPP, the PC can't even detect the Flash Cart. Will Megacart's tool allow me to set in EPP under XP? I mean, does the program configure the port or simply tells where to look for? If the correct answer is the second, it will be useless.

A program that allows people to change the LPT I/O adresses under modern OSs would be awesome...

Thank you.

If nothing works, I'll simply test NT 4.0 sometime.

Umm, both a bit... Since it uses windows dll, it may be ok.

Also, did you do add that in your registry ?
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Parport\Parameters]
"DisableWarmPoll"=dword:00000001

This will disable windows XP to fuck your LPT randomly.
And it is very important. It may be the cause of your data corrupt.

Please check the registry key (reboot your system) first,
then test megacart tool.

OK, I'm gonna try with the new registry entry and my built-in LPT, the only that I can set to EPP from BIOS. I will test the Megacart's tool too.

If does not work, I will try the LPT PCI card with Megacart's tool in XP and finally under NT 4.0 unless new possibilites reported.

It is possible to use another library instead of Window's parport.dll? I read something like that somewhere.

Thank you again.

EDITED:
1. Registry line added.
2. Tested with ToToTEK's software and built-in LPT => Corrupted data.
3. Tested with Megacart's Tool and built-in LPT => It seems to be better, but don't pass the first screen.

Built-in LPT seems definitely wrong. When I have time I will test with the LPT PCI card because it's not plugged right now.

What does mean "first screen"?
It show cartridge content and can flash?

Fisrt screen is Sega screen when the cart plugged in the MD. Nothing new, I've taken it many times with Dream Writer, but never flash a complete file OK.

The flashed data is always corrupt. When I say "better" I mean less corrupt (most time if the the file is small).

I'm still thinking that my built-in LPT is ISA-PCI bridge or something like that. My friend's LPT appears as ISA while mine is shown as PCI. And the flashcart just works perfect in my friend's PC. However, it should work in my built-in port too.

I guess the only I can do is to test the LPT PCI card.

Umm, a last question:
How long is your cable?
If its more than 2 metters long... maybe it can cause corruption if your EPP is very weak...
