Hi Kyuusaku, i meant to send this by pm, but the function is broken it seems.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi kyuusaku,
I just spent the night updating myself on the Snes copiers and found your name on most forums, so you seem THE dude to talk to when it comes to those beasts Wink

I have a few questions regarding the "Pro Fighter X Turbo II".
- Do you know what the latest official BIOS version is ?
- Is it available online somewhere, and if so, can it be modded?
I'd be looking for the following enhancements:
- remove the warning box that appears every time the snes+copier are powered. Wink
(i have read the findings of a Japanese owner of a DoublePro Fighter who describes what is to be patched: change 0BC5: 3E 2A to 0BC5: 18 14, so surely it is doable if we manage to put our hands on the PFXT2 bios?)
- remove the scrolling background with canadian flags which appear at bootup and make the background default to a static screen because it's annoying to do each and every time and this setting isn't remembered.

Have you ever tried modding the bios of this machine yourself?
also, i reckon i'm a noob but how is one supposed to flash a BIOS on copiers?
Does it involve flashing the chip "physically" or can it be done in software with a floppy?

Thanks a lot for your time, if someone knows the answer to those questions, i'm sure it is you Razz
See you!

I'm not sure what the last BIOS is but it's probably "Pro Fighter Turbo X2 TM v.6" I don't have a copy of this or a PFXT(2) but I'd guess Tomy has it or could dump it for you.

I'm going to say no, it's not available online.

The DPF BIOS is very different from a regular Pro Fighter's, for one the DPF has both "Master System" and SNES code while Pro Fighters only have SNES. The PFXT is also quite enhanced from a PFX which is quite enhanced from a Pro Fighter Q which is more or less what's in a DPF. In other words, it's not likely the BIOS have similar structure so you can't directly apply that modification.

The best plan of attack is to get ahold of a dump of the DPF BIOS, disassemble the code that was modified, do a hexadecimal search on a PFXT2 BIOS for that code and change it too.

All copiers until the N64 ones do not have their BIOS in Flash ROM or EEPROM, they're always in EPROM which will need to be physically removed, erased with a UV eraser and reprogrammed using a device programmer.

Ok, thanks for the info.
I would need to talk with Tomy then, maybe he's reading this message?

Yes i expected that. You must mean Megadrive instead of Master System, don't you?

I think that has already been done, the dump & disassembling of DPF Bios, as can be seen here:
http://www.ipc-tokai.or.jp/~ytanaka/megadrv/dprobios.shtml
The interesting part is at the very bottom where the author explains what needs to be changed for the "Warning popup" to be disabled at launch.

Ok, so that is not something i could do with my current equipement I guess.
Maybe Tomy could set up a service in the Tototek shop and provide those enhanced Bios for Pro Fighter series, since i guess he has everything to work with?
Tomy are you reading? ^_^
Thanks for all these infos kyuusaku!

No, he means the master system. The code uses the z80 within the Genesis instead of the 68000.

I'm sorry to say, that page won't help at all because that's for the DPF's MD side. Once you get a BIOS dump, the next step would be trying it in a debugging SNES emulator such as bsnes or Super Sleuth.

The Megadrive/Genesis contains both a 68000 and a Z80. A little research will help you out.

Yes Tomy, because it is annoying to see it every time and press (B) to make it disappear (if i remember well).
Also i would like to change the default scrolling background once and for all. For now, i have Canadian flags scrolling hehe, weird. I would just like a simple fixed blue background instead.
See you,

Tomy are you there?
I am still interested in a hacked BIOS with no warning and fixed background. My current firmware is 2.02.
Also, I took some shots of the SPFXT2:

Do you think you can provide a service for hacked BIOS?

More pics:
the warning:

After warning (USA background):
http://videoff7.free.fr/PFXT2/IMG_0900.jpg

pressing left give another background (canada),
http://videoff7.free.fr/PFXT2/IMG_0901.jpg

pressing left give another background (norwegian flag?)
http://videoff7.free.fr/PFXT2/IMG_0902.jpg

pressing left give another background (blue fixed),
http://videoff7.free.fr/PFXT2/IMG_0903.jpg

Anyone else has that on their 2.02 Bios?

Ideally i would like NO warning and blue fixed background by default.

I do believe the last PFXT2 BIOS is 1996 v6.3. That is what mine has. It also has 64M.

Hi Doc,
From the looks of mine, is it a PFXT or a PFXT2?
Since in the menu it only say "Pro Fighter X Turbo" i'm not sure anymore.
Also, are the difference between mine and yours only the extra 32megs of RAM? (I have the DSP chip built-in too).
And at last, does BIOS 6.3 you have on yours have the same menu configuration? (multiple background with USA, Canada, Norwegian flags or full blue?)
Oh yeah, and have you ever tried to patch the BIOS so it doesn't display the warning anymore?
If you can take pics, I would love to see your copier and the onscreen menu.
Thanks,

TSR

From that jap profighter bios page, if u search for:

0BC5 3E 2A ;LD A,2A

and patch to:

0BC5 18 14 ;JR 0BDB

It skips out the warning bit, from what i can gather?!?
