I am getting a 64mb GDSF7 (is it upgradeable ? I know Tototek sells memory modules, but if I put a 64 mb upgrade in it, can the internlal memory also be upgraded? ) soon with CD-ROM drive. Only thing is, the CD-ROM drive (guy told me it worked with his V64 power supply) won't come with a power supply.

Anyone know of a power supply I can use with it?

thanks!

Of course it's upgradeable, it supports 128M in two 64M modules.

The guy told you right, the CDROM needs a V64-like power supply. It's a SMPS outputting 12V/5V through a 4-pin mini-DIN connector like S-Video.

is there an equivalent adaptor or other alternative? I can't seem to find a V64 power adaptor. Also, do you know of a manual on how to operate this thing? The GDSF7 starts by automatically trying to load whatever disk, and all I can do is just press select.

You can build one from a Jameco power supply that uses +5 and +12, just need to solder on the proper DIN connector.

how about this:

If so, could i just solder on an S-VIDEO cable onto the end of it? S-VIDEO cable fits perfectly into the CD7.

also, can someone tell me how to get to the other options on the GDSF7? About the only thing I can do is go up and down on the game slot list and refresh the game slot list but I can't get to the other menus

That'll work fine, just wire up an svideo connector and you're set.

Well, if its the same like the V64 PSU then you can take just any (old) power supply for PCs. If you need the PinOuts let me know, i have build an adaptor on my own.

1) Buy a high gauge S-video cable
2) Desolder and disconnect old power cable
3) Solder in S-video cable

High gauge s-video cable...well, I don't know how to tell the difference between one cable and another. I am wondering also how to wire the old power cable to the s-video cable

Err, I guess that would be low-gauge == thick cord.

You wire it like a V64, pinout is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_V64

ok i cut off the end of this power supply and there are 5 cables: black, brown, white, green, red.

i am kind of at a loss as to what colors to connect to what pins on an svideo cable
