I don't have the design or any useful files. But the type of drive you are thinking of is a MKE drive. They are very old. There are atleast 2 specific models people commonly used. However if you are looking for something practical, the SNES PowerPAK is a much better device.
But if you are set on messing around with the GDSF7, it is possible to build your own CDROM interface. The drives aren't that expensive and if you have the time to build and mess with it for go it. But you may have to google around for the schematics. |

Cheers mottzilla,
After searching several hours on these forums, all i found was info on how to use an old MKE drive with a DIY interface. but could not find any info regarding the use of a standard CD-rom unit. Do you know the specific model number for any MKE drives, ebay-ing MKE cd-rom brings up nothing, all are listed as IDE. Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

Anyone have "the dumpers" schematics for a makeshift interface? |

Yea, only the MKE drives work. I have 2 that I'd sell if you're interested in buying. |

MKE drives are the only ones that will work. It's been said a certain version of the GameStation uses an IDE drive but no one ever published a schematic and/or BIOS to use one. So you'll have to buy an old MKE drive and make the interface. There's a very nice picture on NESDEV of one someone made and put into an external CDROM enclosure. I think it actually looks better than the official CD7 which looks pretty goofy and playstation 1 looking. |

Most probably.
Check the The Dumper's doc but I remember he wrote both 562 and 563 work, only difference being a digital audio output. |
