I got my GG Pro today and wanted to test it right away.
My PC has EPP enabled, I have a parallel cable connected and the USB gives the +5V.
But every time I start the Dreamwriter in the bottom right it flashes 32M and then immediatly 0M. I cant flash anything on the cart and I cant see the games on it.
When I put it in my GG it shows the Menu which is in a strange purple that I can hardly read. And when I start a game it too has colors way off. Bubble Bobble is all purple and and cyan...
My GG works fine with original carts though.
Whats wrong with my cart? |

I think you may have wrong cable. You need straight cable, no cross pins.
You run GG Pro with pre-loaded games, it show purple ?
If yes, please check the switch on GG Pro. You should turn it to SMS mode position. Because Bubble Bobble is SMS game. |

Thanx for the answer!
The cable I use is the same I use for my old Gameboy flash linker (uses USB for +5V and Parallel for data too) and it works fine there.
Do you have any schematics on how the pins in the cable have to be connected? So I can test.
Mine is connected pin 1->1 all the way to 25->25. Just checked with a multimeter.
I use XP SP2 LPT1 is on 0x0378 EPP is on.
Tested on a second computer with XP sp 3 and ECP+EPP on. Same problem... it just doesnt find a cart.
I exchanged the usb cable now but that didnt help either.
Problem is Dreamwriter doesnt say much about WHY it doesnt find the cart.
Is it important for Dreamwriter if the cart is set to GG? Or has it to be set to SMS? I tried both and neither works but just wondering... |

I tried with 2.1 and with 2.3. Didnt change anything.
BUT: I tried my old Laptop today... and with that it works from the get-go.
I checked everything now: all 3 of my computers had exactly the same LPT1: settings. All use XP SP2 or SP3. And the Flashcart only works with my old machine. No matter what I do it just cant find the cart on any of my 2 newer ones.
Strange... Well at least I know now that the cart is working.
It just seems it cant handle modern equipment. |
