Don't you have to format the CF card to RAW and paste the ROMs into it in a hex editor or something? I remember it wasn't for the novice user. I thought this tutorial would go over all of that, but it doesn't. Would have been cool if a tool for programming the HDD was included with the BIOS. Seems like it isn't worth the effort for me and plus you can only use 128M? That doesn't sound too appealing.

That was just with the first test version , you format the CF card into FAT and transfer the roms over the normal way.

This bios is only meant for people that want to test stuff easily without having to burn a new cd every time and for people that have no means of ever finding the extra ram expansion and who don't give a shit about destroying their v64s so it's only for a very tiny minority Smile.

That being said I have actually no idea how it works with 254mbit games , might work well for all I know but since I can't try them I can't really say.

I have no VISA = can't buy anything outside of my country;)

I have a friend thats gonna map the pinouts and see if it's possible to solder a ide connector on to a normal SIMM.

It's a pity that Bung had to be soo greedy and make custom ram expansions like that, I guess they thought they'd make $ by having people buy their own ram but it's not very practical in retrospect.

Hi, sorry to bump an old thread. All the links were removed in your tutorial.

I did manage to upgrade my V64 with the V1.30B bios, although I don't see the "HDD" icon as per the YouTube video, most likely it's an older build. The V64 does detect my 40gb hard drive and the play button works where I see "00" and an arrow icon next to it.

I cannot load any of my games, I have tried to copy the game to sector 0 with winhex with no luck. Can anybody assist please? I think I am almost there.

Thanks.
