uCon64 seems to support transfer of ROMs over to the Supercom Pro.1 and it does have a com i/o on the back, yet when I try it, ucon64 just sits there telling me it's transferring and the Supercom does nothing.

Should this work and if so, what am I doing wrong?

I might add that Googling is getting me no where, only a few people mention that this copier even exists Sad

Yes it does work with a Supercom, you should get a progression bar while transfering

There could be an issue with your parallel port, cable, Supercom, ucon configuration...hard to tell

It is hard to tell. What mode/copier type should I be using in ucon? SWC?

I'm running it on an old laptop (circa 1995) and tried ECP and EPP modes. Also tested the parallel cable is straight through on a multimeter and all pins are making contact.

So I'm stumped Sad

Do you mean a progress bar on the SNES or the PC? It just sits at the menu on the supercom as if not connected.

Usually there's a progression bar on ucon and menu browsing is frozen on the supercom.

Do u have another pc with // port to test with?
You need to rule out possilities.

Yeah I have another PC nearby, I'll give it a go tomorrow.

ucon just finds the game name, finds the port then says transferring. A few seconds later a message saying press q to cancel pops up.

So SWC mode is correct? Not SMC mode?

Well I tried ucon64, snestool and VGS and all hang when trying to transfer, I have to forceably close the dos box (this is in win95). The port it's using corresponds with what the bios says.

I tried all programs in vanilla dos too via a boot disk and still no dice. I guess if I try the other PC and it does the same thing that'll bring it down to the Supercom since the lead is fine Sad

Well I tried another machine and it still didn't work Sad

I'm starting to suspect the parallel cable though since connecting the floppy drive doesn't work either (I have never used the floppy though since it was just an empty case when I got it and I've attached a PC drive to it now).

I think once I have a brand new straight through cable if it still won't work I'll be giving up Confused

Out of interest, when we say the parallel cable must be "straight through" do we mean the pinout would be mirrored on the other end of the cable or the same because mine is mirrored Confused

I just checked the PCB of the Supercom and standard Parallel pinout... looks like my lead is wrong Rolling Eyes

Got a 1996 Toshiba Laptop booting right into Snestool (forgot how quick old machines booted!) and select a game and that's that!

Totally worth the effort, all I have to do now is fill up it's little 500mb hard disk with <16mb roms and I'm set. Not bad for £20 for the copier and £0 for the hand me down laptop!

Probably easier using a frontend - on the ucon64 page about half-way down you'll find the uf-Fox GUI for a number of platforms. That's what I use... it has a pop-up control where you select the type of programmer you are using.

tryed that and it does nothing tryed the port program and when i update are run my pc resets
