As Always been a Big Nintendo Fan, i must admit that the Pc-Engine had some of the best games around.
Nintendo and Sega had both good systems and ALOT of games, but After been having a Pc-Engine DUO RX a whole new world opened to me.
I'm still a Nintendo fan, but as a got older and more into collecting game systems, i got a better view on all the things, Every system had its own benefits and worsed games
Let's list some old consoles i like to keep connected to my TV
NES
SNES
N64
Pc-Engine DUO RX
Saturn
Neo-Geo MVS (2slots)
Atari 7800 (2600 backwards compatible, so no Atari 2600 listed)
Megadrive in combination with Megacd1 and 32X
Handhelds i still play
GBA (plays also GBC/GB, so not listed)
Neo Geo Pocket Color
Game Gear
Nokia 3650 (yeah 1 mobile phone) _________________ He, who controls the spice, Controls the UNIVERSE

i voted for genesis.
the snes had a lot to show with better gfx and sound.
but the 1st real 16bit machine was my genesis. its 1st impressions are burned in my head.
for the most part if the same game was on genesis and snes the genesis ver seemed to play better/smoother. the snes was a little sluggish.
back in the day my friend and i would rent both ver of each game to compare them.
top fav systems(no real order)
genesis
snes
neogeo
duo
xbox(love all the hacks emulators media center ect)
i always fav the under dog
i played my saturn more than psx
my my gamecube and xbox more than my ps2
my duo and genesis more thasn my snes
would have played a sms more than nes if i had one in the day. i do now |

I voted for Genesis too. It was my first 16-bit system, and i enjoyed it for years and years. The Snes was very cool too, but I keep a special place in my heart for the good old genny
My favorite 16 bit consoles, in order are:
1) Genesis
2) Snes
3) TG16
4) Neogeo |

I voted for SNES because as a kid I had Nintendo followed by Super Nintendo and then Nintendo 64. I only got to enjoy other older systems thanks mostly to emulation as well as used game stores.
As far as the Genesis goes, it has a much better processor than the SNES and often uses a higher resolution than the SNES but can display the same. But I've noticed in many games the sound quality and graphical quality (esspecially colors) just isn't there. Certainly the genesis is capable of some great music and wonderful graphics and colors, but I've seen many more SNES games showing much better graphics and sound.
I got a backup unit for my Super Famicom because there are so many wonderful games to play for it. I wouldn't bother with Genesis because I cannot think of many games I want that would justify the cost. Sonic The Hedgehog 1-3, Sonic and Knuckles, Battletoads, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The Hyperstone Heist, and X-Men are the only games I really want, and I'm only missing Sonic 1, 3 and S&K. |

I had to go with teh SNES for the RPGs. Dragon Quest 5, 6, and Chrono Trigger own everything. |

PCE/TGX is an 8-bit system even though it has a 4bpp VDP. |

this is a great topic: lets seee, hmmmm
If i was stuck on an Island for a while with tons of time to waste and a year supply of electricity, i would choose the SNES simple because i could play tons of RPG's to past time.
Tales of phantasia
Terrinigma
Secret of mana
dragon quest
lufia 2
If i was going on a 2 month vacation to a island somewhere I would bring my Genesis because everyday i could try and probably beat a good game
streets of rage
sonic
shinobi
ristar
out runners
FLASHBACK-was better on the geny
both systems had great sports titles - the SNES boast bright and rich colours while the genesis show off it's power in realistic character movements
In the perfect would i would bring both systems with me at all times |

If the PCE were a true 16-bit system, it'd get my vote hands down.
Since it ain't, the Genesis gets my vote. It had the best array of shooters. Never was an RPG fan. |

As far as I'm concerned, it is and always has been more about games than systems. A bit like music production: some mods are way more sophisticated than some Pro Tools 64 tracks.
I played more games on my Intellivision than my N64 although I went all the way to HK to pick up a CD64 back in the days...
So for this one I'd say SNES for Nintendo's flagship killer hits. |

My vote also goes to SNES. Boy, did I have fun with that system. Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Mario World, Super Metroid, Donkey Kong Country, Mega Man X, Castlevania IV and countless others. |
