Why not just put the coin battery slot on the outside of the cart?

That sure is bulky.

Because there is no coin battery slot.
The original coin cell is soldered to the board.

It's not that bulky, mate.
AAA batteries are not huge by any standard.

That's a pretty sweet mod Gummy Bear Very Happy.
I don't own a super flash yet and I'm not very knowledgeable about it, so I have a few questions. When the time comes to change the batteries, can you keep your saves? I don't know how the transfer software works, but can you send your game files & saves to your computer, change the batteries, then transfer them back to the cart? Or can you change the batteries while the cart is active in your snes?
Excuse my insolence.

Oh, right, I know...I mistyped before...I meant why not put a coin slot on a the out side. I didn't mean to insinuate the carts came with one. Very Happy

Thanks mate, I'm glad you like it. Smile

As for changing the batteries:
You can indeed transfer saves across to your PC and back, it's very easy.
You won't need to transfer the game files (ROM) across as that doesn't require any power to be retained.

Not sure if I could change the batteries while the SNES is on but I think it would work.

You should get one, mate.
It's a nice thing to have.

Hi Rob.

I wondered if that was what you meant. Wink
I did consider that, but decided against it as coin cells (notoriously) don't like to be touched with your skin.
The greases present in your skin can corrode the metal casing of coin cells.

The 2xAAA battery clip was the more robust option in my opinion.
