I have a laptop that doesn't do EPP, so I got hold of a PCMCIA printer card for it that does. Can't get it to work though 
Anyone else had luck with this setup and the MD-PRO cart ?

The card doesn't work period, or doesn't work with the MD-Pro?
Is your laptop a Compaq? Many of them won't do EPP.
Is there driver software for the card? Since I take it you don't access the card mode settings via the bios, is there some kind of interface software for it? What OS are you using?

Just with MDPRO

It's a Dell, doesn't do EPP on it own port, hence the card (which does)

That's the thing, I can't see a way to make sure the card is in EPP mode. The generic card came with just a driver disk and no instructions
It's not like a built-in interface where you just go into the BIOS
Any ideas ? |

That's probably the problem. Many PCMCIA cards, when you buy them, will advertise that they do "TRUE EPP MODE OMG!!1!!" and such. Since the card is rather generic, you way want to see if brand name is mentioned anywhere on it, or maybe take a good look at that driver to see who made it. From there, see if the manufacturer has a newer driver. Any good PCMCIA parallel card will let you select printer mode via the drivers. They are also very expensive nowadays.

Couldn't find a name anywhere, but it was a cheap EBay card 
I've got hold of a second hand laptop with true EPP port so that should work OK with the cart.
(All the new computers don't have printer ports anymore) |
