|
|
| I bought a Game Doctor SF7 not too long ago from online and only got round to trying it out. The problem is that I used ucon64 to convert and split the rom to fit on the floppy disks but when I put it into the SF7, it comes up with a disk error message. Then I used the "format disk" option in the SF7 and it reads it perfectly enough for me to dump one of the SNES carts I own to the disk but the problem it reversed in that it if I try to open it on my PC, it just gives an error message. I did think that the problem was due to the floppy drive itself but if my SF7 can't read a floppy formatted in XP and my XP can't read a floppy formatted in SF7, what am I suppose to do? |

Well actually it seems to me it is indeed a problem with your floppy drive.
It is a common problem with defective heads on floppy drives to be able to format disks that are unreadable on other drives.
Your best try is to switch the floppy drive, then if you wanna fix it, here's what I did for mine:

| Well, after my old USB floppy disk drive broke down, I got a new one and this time, it actually loads the roms to the SF7 without any problem so I guess it was the USB floppy drive's problem all along. But now I'm left with a curious question. Why is it that if I turn the SF7 off, the game I loaded onto the SF7 gets wiped out? If so, does that mean the saves gets wiped as well? If so, which option should I use to back up the saves of RPGS onto floppy disks? |

This question has been answered quite a few times.
The GDSF7 retains its data in memory as long as the PSU is connected, even if you turn it off.
I believe the saved game are stored in the BRAM on this model so save your BRAM to a floppy disk every time you finished playing. |
