Look at this topic: http://www.tototek.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1610

Nobody ever found a solution to that. But, the workaround for this is very easy actually!

If you have a file, let's call it F1.BIN, that won't flash because of that error, you just grab a working file, let's call it F2.BIN, put it in the list, delete F2.BIN and rename F1.BIN to F2.BIN. Now flash, it will work!

That's how I got MicroMachines 96 to flash Very Happy

Haha, don't you just love faulty programs? Especially when you spent $100 on the hardware. Rolling Eyes

I posted that error a while ago and I found it was just much easier to set up a Windows 98 machine (I want to eventually set up Windows 98 via VMWARE on my XP machine). XP is finicky with parallel ports.

I tried this but it didn't work Sad I downloaded some hex editor programs but I don't know much about doing this, tested around but I think and I need to learn what to do first. Meh, so frustrating...

Try ucon64 instead. DreamWriter is nice, but until they work more of the bugs out, I stick with ucon64 instead.

One of the threads in this forum has a front-end made just for ucon64 on the MD-Pro programmer for DOS and Windows. You can find the front-end at his web page:

thanks chilly willy but ucon64 is a huge headache for me since it runs through command prompt which I am not good with at all. I posted on the thread you mentioned about the front-end from oerg over here (i think this is the one you mean):http://www.tototek.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2477

However, as my post says I had problems on my computer. It would freeze up half way through flashs and the main window had graphical issues. Once these bugs get smoothed it will be a nice alternative but DreamWriter is much better right now sadly. Thanks to the portio driver package I installed DreamWriter works great now minus the header bug (which affects oerg's front end as well). If I could get more details on this trick or some basics on genesis hex editor changing I would be set..

Try the uf front-end then. That's what I use in linux. It's more than needed (handles everything ucon64 supports), but you can set it so that only the Genesis tab and browser come up by default.
