Hi Tomy,guys

I just purchased an md pro 64 which shipped yesterday.

Before I bought it I knew that I needed both parallel port and usb cable.
I was 100% my mobo had a parallel port until I checked it again last night.
I don't. Sad
I confused the com port for a parallel port!
Oddly in my bios settings there are parallel options. epp mode etc.

Anyway, Can anyone summarise what my options are. I'm not looking to return the card at all - just figure out how I get to transfer files!

From reading other posts it seems that a parallel port card won't work??
How about a usb to parallel cable/convertor?
Any other options?

I dont have an old pc at the moment either so a solution for existing pc would be ideal.

Anyway, all advice welcome!

Go to your local Goodwill or St. Vicent DePaul and get an old Pentium 2/3 PC with Windows 98/XP for $20. Systems that old always have a the required parallel port. I keep an old C3 laptop for its parallel port for programming the MD-Pro.

You don't need a powerful computer, just one whose only task will be to program the cart. Many people still have one suitable to the task in their closet or garage, sitting with nothing to do since they upgraded to something that would play newer games.

Old laptops are really good for this since they take almost no room. Just make sure it has a parallel port.
Cool

Thanks man,

yeah, I'm organising to take a slightly damaged but working laptop from my mate so all will be ok!

Just wanted to be sure that I wasn't overlooking a simpler solution for my existing pc.

Looking forward to getting the cart up and running! Left HK on the 7th!

As Chilly Willy suggests, that's what I did when I needed a Parallel Port and my new PC didn't have it. I bought an old laptop for maybe $60 which has a Parallel Port and enough processing power and ram to run Windows 98. It works great for copiers or other old devices with parallel ports.
