It is good to start with this sample source.
Quote: | You can download the free version of the WDC compiler from:
http://westerndesigncenter.com/wdc/Evaluation_Kit/freesdk.exe
It has a few limitations, but they aren't bad at all. There is a limit of 750 lines in each C source file (the installer says 250, but the compiler shows the error at 750), and 2k of asm code in each asm file.
The free version of the WDC compiler will work for SNES development. This isn't a multi-bank project, but adding a bank appeared to work without any problems. You will have to use jsl/rtl instead of jsr/rts, unless you know the routines are located in the same bank.
Here's my first test project, using some of the routines from Frog Feast; it does not use any libraries included with the compiler.

I used the binary format, and wrote a utility to convert from binary to SNES binary.
The asm and C compilers seem very easy to use. The only issue I had was initially finding the command to include a binary file, it's INSERT.
I think this could be the beginning of C programming on the SNES.
Why does the forum convert ass.embler (without the period) to ass?
