I'm sure I can get it to work. Don't buy what you can't use |

There's manuals, but they aren't specific to adapters. You would basically go to a shop, buy your Neo Geo game on floppies and put them in in order. No downloading ROMs off the net and hoping they're in the proper format. |

I agree with what has been said. You’re looking at it from a modern North-America end user perspective. Back in the day (At least in China, HK, Taiwan), you didn’t get extensive manuals outlining how file formats were hacked, or how to create your own images. All you got was a general use document and your games ether came from:
Direct dump of a cart via in-system menu.
Purchased from a game catalog via serial number.
In practical terms, you never needed to do any of the work. It was all pre-done for you. Thats partially why copiers started format "wars" trying to make competitors copiers unable to read your disks, while making your copier able to read everyone elses. At the root level, consumers never needed to care about native formats, as it just "had to work". But from a company side, they try hard to make it seem like their product works better than another. I think eventually people just gave up and stared supporting the major three or so formats. |

Better yet, can anyone clone this adapter? It's rare as hell.

No way, it's apparently got 9 custom chips by Bung. I have yet to see PCB scans though (and I would really like to since with them I think I can positively determine which games it can play.)
I have been back to studying Neo cartridges and I've got a lot of the standard cartridges worked out. I know how to clone the very first MVS games, almost how to convert MVS to AES (I'm doing testing right now), and almost know how to make all standard games until ~1998 (need to do testing on 2 chips, but I know 90% of how they work). After 1998 many games have encryption and/or custom bankswitching and/or copy protection schemes which can be dealt with once normal games are playable. |

good job, as always, kyuusaku. It's just too bad that a some sort of dummy cartridge can't be tethered to a PC and the PC emulates the custom chips and takes care of the encryption. Sort of a software/hardware combo emulator. |
