Hiya,

Just joined, glad there is a community out there for these units. Surprised

Recently bought a GDSF6 (8MB*4) in NZ for $50. And been having trouble getting it to go. I am using it on a Super Famicom and the power supply is (+)--(0)--(-) 10V 1.2A

It loads the screen with picture of game, disc, utility so thats ok so far
It can play a PAL game by going Run Cart.
It seems to be able to format a Disc
And it seems to copy the file to disc when i "backup cart" as well as backup to the ram slot at the same time.

When i go backup cart to the ram slots it works, but Ram slot A: & D: never have the name right always a jumbled character as shown below.

1st Ram
A: (7gpermario)*
B: (Supermario)
2nd Ram
C: (8xpermario)*
D: (Supermario)

*jumbled characters

I try to run it from the disc and it freezes, i try to run it from the ram and it freezes.

I have cleaned the cart, cleaned the connectors & reseated both RAMs. I haven't tried reseating any other chips but if someone thinks it might fix it i am willing to give that a go.

I've converted .smc files to the gd3 ROM format in ucon64 and then copied resulting file (has no extension) to a floppy (correct process?) and it loads the disc to RAM after 3,2,1 but then the screen goes just blank.

Try to to a Self Test and it either freezes on the menu, goes to a screen full of jumbled characters like the matrix, or coloured blocks.

Do I need new RAM? Or is the whole unit "bung" pardon the pun Wink

TIA for you help.
