I noticed that in the classic part of the tototek website MGD2s were being sold. Does it include all the adaptors to play SNES, Genesis, NEO-GEO, PC-Engine, Super Graphics, Game Gear, and Game Boy games? I would use it mostly for SNES and Genesis. Would it be better to buy an SF7 and the Genesis flash kit? Thanks |

no, it does not come with anything. you'll have to buy the memory and adapters seperately (for outragous money.) SF7 and MDPro are WAY better solutions. |

i have all the mgd2 stuff other than the mgd2,neogeo and gameboy unit.
i have
2 8mb sram cards
1 32mb dram card
8mb sram i/o card for pce(will work with supergrafx)
8mb sram i/o card for megadrive
8mb sram i/o card for gamegear
8mb sram i/o card for sega master system games on megadrive
16mb sram i/o card(two 8mb slots) for snes
32mb dram i/o card for megadrive
32mb dram i/o card for snes
pclink cable for sram
pclink cable for dram
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i dont need the mgd2 because i use my pc and link cable to load roms.
pros of mgd2.
1.you can share the same ram for many systems.
2.you dont need the real mgd2 unit can use your pc.
3.some copiers are hard to find for some systems
pce,supergrafx,gamegear,
4.of the few pce copiers around they are only 4mb in size
a handfull of games are 6mb and 8mb. only one is bigger that 8mb that is street fighter 2.
cons of mgd2
1. older technology. a lot of newer snes roms wont work because they are hi roms. nintendo came up with a faster speed rom so games could do more.
2. little support. i think i am one of the last people that really tries to understand the mgd2. i have a little web site at http://home.adelphia.net/~acem77/
3.cost a lot of money.
4.you will have to split up roms bigger than 8mb.
most copiers will need you to do this if you dont use some type of pc link up. if you use a pclink cable you dont need to split up snes roms when sending to the 32mb dram i/o cart.
99.9% of all pce,gb,gg,sms and supergrafx roms are 8mb or smaller.
the new ucon64 will make splitting very easy if needed.
i have some tools and notes on my web site to help you get 90%
of the roms to play on a mgd2.
i have 3000+ snes roms converted 1000+pce roms converted.
100+ genesis. soon i will have all gg and sms rom converted.
all non hi snes roms with no fx,dsp, compressed data chips(most copiers cant play fx,dsp, compressed data roms) work. only 1% of snesroms use
special chips. a good hand full snes roms are hi. use a emulator or rom tool like ucon64 to see if the rom is hi or lo.
all gamegear/sms roms i tried work.
99.9 of pce roms worked
100% of super grafx roms worked
all megadrive games i tried worked. i think vr racer is the only rom that will not work.
the md-pro from tototek is great for genesis/32x.
dont think there will be anything better.
the sf7 for snes is really nice for the price. |

1) it wasn't the only site about the MGD2.
2) what do you need to know about the MGD2? I (we) can probably answer your questions. |

You are right But it was the best for me
I make a tutorial to replace MGD2 mitsubishi floppy drive so if someone want to host it on a web page
http://www.divshare.com/download/450566-aa4
And yes i have some question :
Do you have the Utility Disv 2.0 ( I search it a lot )
I search the schematic of the SRAM MGD2-Link cable and SRAM PC-Link cable
Sorry for my bad english |
