can ROM hacks and translations be run properly on GDSF7?

whenever I patch a ROM then convert to GD format and load it up there usually is some sort graphical glitch although games usually work.

one typical example is Legend of Zelda: Parallel Worlds there always is a minor graphical glitch on the title screen. most of the game works fine but then when I got up to the scorpion there was a horrible graphical glitch where half the boss appears on the other side of the screen.

an example of a hack not working is the BS Zelda Map 1 with real hardware hack patch. title screen loads but select button doesn't work so you can't start the game! (select button works fine on other games)

am I doing something wrong when converting or patching? or do hacks always have these problems when you play them on real hardware?

also when you convert games to GD format sometimes it says bad checksum so I choose the fix checksum option on Ucon64 Frontend. but it doesn't seem to make a difference. also sometimes its bad checksum to start with so I fix it then convert then it's bad checksum again. what should be done first conversion or fix checksum or does it not make any difference whatsoever?

btw splitting the files shouldn't be part of the problem because I load directly from Ucon64 frontend instead of copying manually split files to disk (much easier). I run my GDSF7 on an American NTSC SNES.

Rom Hacks and translations often only work properly on inaccurate emulators which they were developed on. You could try running the roms on the most accurate emulator there is, BSNES. If they work on BSNES it's pretty likely they should work on the real SNES but this is not 100%.

BS Zelda experiences alot of problems on real hardware. The version with the NES Zelda style character select menu doesn't work, at all. It always crashes/locks up on the character select screen. I published a patch that makes BS Zelda playable from start to finish on real hardware. Google the BSZelda Homepage website to find it.

Bad checksums don't matter either. Also you can always try running the non-hacked non-translated versions of the same game and see if they work. If they do, then it's a problem with the hack or translation.

Final Fantasy 4's J2E translation needs the embedded cartridge information changed to have a bigger ROM Size or else it won't work right. But other than that I never had any problems with translations on the GDSF7 but I played very few.
