Tomy,
I was wondering: What is the name of this book you got these out of (from nesdev forums)? I noticed that the first page of FDS Copy tool 2 is for some kind of wireless RF trasmitter (I think). Would you happed to have the ISBN number? Who is the book made by?
Thanks so much!
Yours,

Hey Tomy...
Any word on this? I'm curious about that wireless RF project in it that only one page is shown of on the Copy tool 2. What other stuff is in that book?

| Doubt it has a ISBN number... they came from a OLD Japanese pirate magazine (probably wasn't even legally produced) if anything, it could be from an ancient issue of "Backup Technique." The RF transmitter probably is for well, transmitting RF. (Or hacking the Mark-III one for FC use...) |

Wow, that's very cool! Any idea what issue that FDS stuff was in or where I might be able to find issues? Are they in Black and white, or are the originals in color?
Thanks, Tomy!

Hey Kyuusaku,
From the bit I have translated, it looks to be a plan for building a wireless RF box from a Film case and some other components...hard to tell from it only having the last page of that article... my Japanese skills are horrible, but that's what it seems to be...

| Game Lab is the same as Backup Technique IIRC. I might be able to find that issue. |

Found their home page. Some research elsewhere indicates it may be the September 1998 issue......not sure though. Kyuusaku, if you do find it and are willing to part with it, feel free to PM me on it.
So Backup Technique is the same? In what way? The covers of the mags tat I've seen all say GemuLabo (Game Lab). Did they used to be named Backup Tehcnique and later changed their name?
As always, Thanks so much!

Yeah, I'm quite sure Backup Technique was the old name.
More likely than not, the FDS issue, is from 1988, not 1998... Tomy told me before he even submitted them that they were very old.
And the transmitter thing is exactly what I thought it was, but it must be described in another part of the book. If you wanted to build one yourself, you could probably easily find schematics on the net. |

The FDS copy tools 1 and 2 were from different issues, I believe. Is this accurate, Tomy?
Kyuusaku, This site is the one that I believe mentions the Sept 98 issue. It is also quite likely I am misreading it:
http://cgp.s5.xrea.com/bbs/readres.cgi?bo=desni&vi=1010640520
Scroll down to number 16.
I too originally thought they were much older....somewhere between 87 and 93.
Thanks again!

Hmmm, I think this site is saying that it was issues 5 and 6 of Backup Technique....

Can anyone confirm?

Actually, the first site you posted was pointing to an issue of Game Lab from '98 describing PasoFami's FDS Reader/Writer. Pasofami is a Japanese FC emulator if you didn't know, but it also supports "flashing" RAM cartridges, backing up cartridges and dumping/writing FDS disks.
This is done through really expensive hardware kits using a interface called the Chameleon. If you want to look into their setup, the price might discourage you. Its about $100 for the interface, about $50 for each adapter (one for FC, one for FDS *they also have interfaces for many other consoles*) $75 to register the PasoFami emulator to use this hardware, $100 for each RAM cartridge. You also obviously need to live in Japan and speak Japanese to pay them since they don't just accept PayPal. Eventually, I will get the FDS kit since I'm currently without a solution for FDS writing.
Site #2 - If the issues were 5/6 of Backup Technique, that WOULD be in 87-88. Trust me, these are OLD. Tomy has been doing this for a long time :)
Also, when you see Japanese dates, take their calendar into account (lots of times, dates aren't displayed in the gregorian calendar.)
