Hello!

I luckily own one of these rare devices called Doctor PC jr. Unfortunately it outputs a PAL signal (black borders & 20% less speed).
Therefore I have decided to perform a modification for NTSC video out!

A friend of mine has already modified a PAL Tristar to NTSC video out.
He just replaced the 26.6 Mhz crystal with a 21 Mhz crystal. Additionally a broken bridge on the PCB has been reconnected.

Similarly there is a broken connection on the PCB of my PAL Doctor PC jr near the glue logic chip.

Can anyone confirm that this connection is NOT broken on the PCB of a NTSC Doctor PC jr?
I just don“t want to take the risk of damaging my beloved Doctor PC jr!

Stefan

It doesn't make sense that a trace would be broken for one video signal and in tact for another. I'd probably repair it.

I think the video is hardwired inside the PPU. FC isn't like other consoles where RGB is passed to a NTSC/PAL encoder, the palette directly generates NTSC or PAL YIQ/YUV colors.

Has anyone ever found a fix to a PAL Dr NES PC Jr running NTSC games slow?
