hi guys,
well thanks to "squid", but having no RAM in the V64 shouldn't prevent it booting. I checked the video conectors etc on the mainboard, aside from some very dodgy soldering (to say the least), all looks ok. Still no green BUNG screen, just blackness. One thing I've found is I DO still get N64 video if I plug the N64 in to the V64's video input, but switch the N64 off and it's all blackness. Do you think it's possible the video relay has blown and is stuck on pass-through-from-N64 mode? Or perhaps a bad BIOS flash? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

My best guess would be a bad bios flash. see if you can re-flash it. If it will read a cd, it can be done.
Also note that originally the V64s HAD to be modified and re-flashed to be of much use. They did not ship modded. Many of the folks out that that did these may not have done such a bangup job at it. Also, check the board for crappy solder joints it could be something as simpe as a cracked joint where the RCA plug is due to repeated insertions. re-flash it if you can.
hehe. also make sure you aren't set to the wrong NTSC/PAL setting on the back. |
