Hello!

I have recently acquired a UFO Super Drive Pro 6 (Hyper Version) with 26Mb of ram.

It is a nice little machine but finding information about it is pretty hard, I have a few questions...

What is the difference between the menu options:

Normal Player
Hyper Player
[*] Normal Player
[*] Hyper Player

Certain games will not load using some options but will load under a different selection, I was curious what each was used for and what the [*] was supposed to mean.

Another question involves graphical glitches with some games. Street Fighter II, the game loads and the sound is perfect, but the characters are blocky on screen. The ROM is a good dump so I'm not sure what the problem is. This happens with many versions of the Street Fighter II game.
Also this happens with Uniracer/Unirally. The game loads fine but then there are blocky graphical glithces. When the track actually starts the game is unplayable as you will fall through the track and the character is all blocky.

I have attached pictures.

Does anyone know a solution for this or what the cause may be? Some games work fine.

I have opened the unit and it looks very clean inside. I have cleaned the cartridge connector and I have removed and re-inserted the ram card.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

One is "Normal Player", one is "Hyper Player".

So, you have to decided... Are you a Hyper Player or a Normal Player? Hyper Players like to cheat and save state. Normal Players like to play games legit.

Thanks so much for posting that.

Do you also know the difference between the [*] options next to each choice?

Do the graphics problems look like they would be caused by a ram problem or something else.

Again, thanks everyone for the help!

The BIOS looks like the same one, more or less, of the earlier SWC models...I forget what the * is for.

Seems like it may be a RAM issue as if it was a dirty connector, you'd have glitches on the menu screen and such.

I can run other games that take up the same ammount of ram. And they run fine... I wonder though if that is only because I have not played through the entire game as certain parts of memory may not be accessed..?

I have looked over the RAM card and it appears to be in great shape. I could attempt to re-flow the solder on each connection, but would like to make every effort to pinpoint it as the RAM's fault first before attempting such a task.

Good News! Very Happy

It is now working correctly!

I do not know what made it start working correctly, but it is... I inserted Super Mario World into the top cardridge port and things started working... strange as I had this set up this way before and it made no difference..

Thanks to Trenton_net I have learned how Normal and Hyper modes work.

Normal Player = Play the game as you would normally
Hyper Mode = Play game with slow motion options and Save / Load state options.

In Hyper Mode:
For Slow Motion (on/off) - Press L+Select Button
For Save Current State - Press L+Start Button
For Load Current State - Press R+Start Button

I still don't know what the [*] options are for... I will keep posting more as I learn to help others that may have a similar device.

It is a great little machine!

I've had this exact machine for about twelve years (it was my first copier) and I'm still not certain what the [*] options are. I've long suspected it has something to do with games loaded through the parallel port (which I've also suspected to be mostly ornamental as I've never been able to find the software for it).
