Hey everyone. I am brand new to copiers and need some help.

Ok so first off, I do not have a proper power supply, can someone please tell me what these devices use? I know it is a 9/12 volt DC plug but I do not know which kind and the one I had overheated quickly and shutdown. A link to a site that sells it would be great.

Second issue. While I had it running, it constantly said NO DISK even though I heard the unit running and saw the light come on. I think it is because the game I was putting on it was in the wrong format. I am having trouble figuring this one out. Should it say no disk even if the formats are wrong?

Third issue. I have tried SNES tool and couldn't understand how to work it. I was told to try UCON64 but I seem to download it but it has no run function from what I can see, just a bunch of files. Any help on what program to use and where to find it would be appreciated.

Any and all help would be great. Thanks in advance to any who do.

If you do a search here you'll find what kind of power supply is needed as all copiers use the same type. If you have a Genesis, use the PS from that. The no disk may have been due to the fact that you didn't have a power supply hooked up. I've never used a UFO, but that's a pretty likely cause. What do you mean that uCON has no "run function?" It's just like any other application, you run it with command line arguments.

It's a SNES NTSC system variation of the player.

The NO Disk may be because the power supply I was using was not a right match but I was not certain.

When I downloaded uCON, I got a series of folders and files that would make up the bulk of the program but no .exe to run it.

Ok Got my hands on a Sega Genesis model 1 power supply from a buddy and it seems to fix all the problems with the unit and can now read the disk.

it can read the split files the SNES tool 1.2 made but how do i assemble them onto the unit so I can play the game?

Ok Updated again. Sorry that this is such a butcher job with the questions but I am operating with caution to avoid frying something.

I have got the correct version of Ucon64 now but when I run it, I see a DOS screen pop up, runs to fast to read, then shutsdown. The faq sheet the website has on it is too convoluted for me to figure out if this is a problem or if I am running something wrong so anyone who knows how this program works please help.

Still stuck on how I activate a game that has been split using SNES tool 1.2 does anyone know how this works please?

uCon64 is a utility that has to run from the DOS prompt. If you want to run it from Windows you need the frontend. If you run it from WinXP you need an parallel port driver too.

Thanks for the help.

I run on Windows XP so I will hunt down those drivers and try it again tonight.

You might want to really read the uCON FAQ and the readme. Everything you are asking is already documented. Plus you'll also learn the answers to the next questions you'll have.

That faq may as well be written in Latin, it makes little sense to me and so does how this program is supposed to be installed.

Thanks CrackLtd for that link but I am not even getting that far with the program.

I have tried there binaries, system io, there faq, two others written by other people and none of it has worked and programs that are not idiot proof do not fly well with me.

I have figured out everything else with this device except how to run split files that are on multiple disks. It can do it for files that it split to multiple disks from a cartridge backup but I don't know how it does it. The file extension it uses is .GM and phrases them as .1GM,.2GM and so on. I tried renaming the extensions manually and it didn't work so the copier must be doing something that I can not see.

If Ucon64 can do this then I need a copy of the program completely assembled and running like SNES tool was when I got it (SNES tool doesn't support the ufo format sadly) or some other program that can preform this trick. I am positive I am doing something wrong but no idea what since I am not even getting error messages to say I am doing something wrong. The program runs to less then 1 second then shuts down.

What are you on about? uCON64 doesn't need to be "assembled" it's a self-contained executable. Not only does the FAQ answer your above question, but CrackLtd also answered it a couple posts ago. We can't reach through your computer and type for you.

I guess he wants one of us to write a front-end to uCON64 for him because can't be bothered to learn how command line computing works. :/

Command line computing has not worked period. cmd.exe has yielded nothing and the PATH will not change no mater where I place it in the environmental variables and unless you can tell me it is safe, i do not want to delete the ones that are all ready there. The computer sees the file as obsolete and the other items it requires (Such as the .dll port drivers it needs) are not recognized by windows xp nor can I force it to do so.

Following that faq to the letter results in me being stopped at question 4 without fail every time I start to run it. XP refuses to accept the command lines form DOS as it can never find the path. I can not tell if the reason is a lake of a proper driver, problem with the program, or if XP just doesn't operate with the program.

Your right you can't reach through to help and i do appreciate the help but please understand that DOS is simply out of my league and as far as what I meant by assembled, I mean the program requires additional downloads outside the main program and the .exe thus far, seems to do nothing from windows but again, I can't get the windows to recognize the program from the cmd.exe lines. When I scan it with windows, I get "software not supported by drivers, check system settings"

Trenton I really don't appreciate that. I am trying my best to understand this program but I do not even know what a front-end is and last time I did anything from DOS I fried the OS so I am gun shy on running anything of this nature or changing any PATH settings.

DID IT!!!!!

Finally found the problem the whole bloody time was the .exe was corrupted when it downloaded each time. The campus firewall was embedding it's damned "Program must be pure" cookie into the file each time. (Ok it's actually a virus scanner but the stupid thing isn't compatible with my firewall)

Anyway I found the cookie, deleted it and locked the file off from the network and now I can run it and just ran my first multi-disk game on the copier.

Thanks for the help guys and word of warning to those at college. THERE VIRUS PROTECTION SUCKS!!!
