I received a FX-32, opened it and it has bad battery corrosion. Took out battery, and the ground trace on the right side it heavily puffed up and corroded...
Also, the memory board is strange. It has only two ram chips on
the exp board, I would have expected 8 for 32mbit on
the non-clone.
The ground trace runs the length of the board, but some of the components sure are not getting proper ground. I was thinking of bridging with wire to endure proper ground. _________________

I have a FX-32 (check http://tototek.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2302) but since there's no naming convention in copiers' paradise you could get pretty much anything from the Pro Fighter family.
Most FX-32 like mine are based on an upgrade of the Super Pro Fighter Q but their ram PCB remains the same as previous models, 8x512. On the other hand some FX-32 are clones of the Pro Fighter X, like the Smart Disc, and the ram has indeed only 2 chips:
Can u take some pics of the board? |

Here's a pic of the ram board.
Is there any way to increase past 32mbit? _________________

Technically I guess up to 64MB since you have some space for what seems to be 2 ZIP memory IC (provided 4MBytes ZIP packages exist?)
I've seen similar memory boards with only ZIP memory or 2 ZIPs and 4 DIPs.
I guess these layouts were chosen at that time on availability of the chips.
Now most importantly is your bios accepting 64MB?
Apparently you have a "PFX type" of FX-32, could you post more pictures of the device, screen and bios version? |
