I bought the CD7 PCB mainboard from Tomy's friend website. Here is what part it is :

I also got a Matsushita CR-563-B CD-ROM drive. Are there any plans out there for building a clone CD-7? Thanks!0

I have already looked at:

Nevermind. I wish someone would make the CD7 interface more available. Loading from floppy sucks and I can't load from my current PC thanks to no parallel port.

Errr, the "plans" are for people without a PCB... you just need to populate it.

Step 1) Solder 74LS244 to U4
Step 2) Solder PCB mount male DB25 connector to COM PORT
Step 3) Solder 40 pin male IDC header to CON4
Step 4) Solder power supply connector (your choice) to CON1, the middle pins are GND
Step 5) Solder .1uF capacitor to C2
Step 6) Solder CDROM molex connector also to CON1
Step 7) Solder 100uF electrolytic capacitor to EC1 with correct polarity
Step 8) Connect CDROM molex connector to CDROM
Step 9) Connect CDROM to CON4 with "IDE" ribbon
Step 10) Figure out which jumper combinations on the PCB work and short them with solder

How about for those with the kind of PCB I have (the one I got from Tomy's friend's website)?

Eastbay, do you even understand what you bought? It's just a blank PCB that needs to have the parts soldered into it. It's not a Bung product, so it is a clone.

LOL duh, I was wondering where you were....

The PCB didn't come with any instructions so I just wondered how to put it all together. Kyuusaku helped out with some instructions based on the PCB I bought so that's what I was looking for; not the usual smart ass comments from you.

kyuusaku,

if I wanted to just connect the case molex power connector to the CD-ROM drive, do I still need those capacitors and power connectors connected to the PCB?

The PCB won't do anything unless +5v and Ground are connected to it. They have to power the 74LS244 chip.

Ok thanks for clarifying that - I was expecting madman to say something much worse but looks like you beat him to the punch (seems like he has email notification of every post I am involved in).
