|
|
Hi again,
I wanted to see how my Super UFO looked inside. I really just wanted to see if it had a battery mounted on the PCB, and if I needed to replace it. It didn't have a battery. But there was space for a DSP chip onboard instead, and the RAM was on a module. I didn't know this...
Were there ever bigger than 32M RAM modules made for the Super UFO? And does anyone have a DSP mounted in his unit? What good would a DSP processor be to mount? Were there alot of games using this?
My unit is a REV 7.8 2
Here's a picture of the PCB:
And the RAM module:

It is rumored there are larger than 32M boards, but the CPLD and BIOS may need updating.
Install a DSP-1, it doesn't matter from which game really. There are maybe 15 DSP-1 games. |

Thanks... I'll give it a go with the DSP-1 chip this weekend. |

I spent well over $100 USD on one of these (and they weren't even in stock for over a year), so I would NEVER have the daring to take it apart. What kind of person opens expensive equipment that was NEVER meant to be opened by the consumer? |

The kind of person that knows what they're doing. Which generally means not the typical "consumer". |

Whats the big deal? It's not rocket science. You open it up, put the DSP in the socket and close it up. Done. You just made your copier more valuable and useful. |
