I can only see advantages of that one over the original one. More memory, built-in floppy drive, etc. |

Looks very nice. With original boxes. Great! But noway its 24M. The black one only came with 8M and 16M. The white (ugly) one has 24M. |

The 3rd revision SMD does support both 24Mbit and 32Mbit. The 32Mbit model is pretty rare. I got a 24Mbit model similar to the one in the aucton myself.
Old notes on the different revisions;
The early SMD800s:
- support 8Mbit boards
- support 16Mbit boards with MUX (74LS157 chip, 2:1 MUX)
The middle SMD800s:
- support normal Magicom/Pro Fighter boards with up to 16Mbit RAM
The late SMD800s:
- support the previous boards, as well as 24 and 32Mbit boards which use 2:4 decoders for chip selection |

Very cool. How would one upgrade a 24mb one to 32mb? In another thread, someone said a 24mb Magic Drive Plus can be upgraded to 32mb by using a Super Wild Card 32mb memory board, but I don't know if that is also the case for the regular Super Magic Drive |

To upgrade you need to reprogram the EPLD (next to impossible now to assemble a working development environment and get the programming files) and do some minor rework to the PCB. |
