Someone ripped me off and sold me a V64 that isnt working. The unit does turn on and will pass the ram test. It will also load a game off of cd (menu system seems to work ok), but once I turn on the N64, the game wont play. Maybe its something I am doing wrong, but I dont have any more time to spend playing with this. So I am selling the unit AS IS for parts. You will get the V64, which includes 2 ram cards (256mbit), cdrom, external power supply, interface to connect to 64 (bottom) and emu cart to put on top of the N64.
PM me an offer or questions. |

| A common issue is the small adaptor between doc and the n64. In some rare cases it wont establish contact between both units. Solution: try another console. Maybe that helps. |

as long as you are getting display from the V64, that is a good sign (that means it will work with an N64 console and play games)
What you need to do (I haven't used one in several months but I think I remember) is plug in your Nintendo cable to the N64 and from that to the TV
and you need your RCA cable from the V64 to the TV (someone correct me if I'm wrong?)
And you'd have to switch between them on the TV source so you can see the game play after you switch on the N64 (after you turn the N64, the video goes out from the N64 console and the V64 RCA ports won't display the game)
This is just what I think I can remember. Someone like crackltd may know the proper way to plug in the video cables. But this is the only way that makes sense to me.
So basically make sure the TV is set to the proper port when you switch on the N64 deck.
Also some games require a specific CIC chip. Test a CIC 6102 game plugged into the cartridge adapter with a CIC 6102 ROM. You're going to need to make sure that you plug the cartridge adapter into the original Nintendo cartridge and plug that into the N64 console before using the Doctor V64.
I hope any of the above helped with the issue. There's also #dextrose on Efnet IRC that has a lot of veterans of this and other N64 backup units. _________________ -amptor |
