I have a SPF q 24m and am using it on a pal snes. It used to work but I haven't tries it in years. Pulled it out the other day and it won't recognise floppy disks. It just says 'no disk'. I have changed the floppy drive with no luck. I notice the barrel battery has some corrosion on one side. Not sure if this is the problem.

Anyone with experience repairing these things can hopefully give me a clue about what's wrong.

Also can I replace the battery with a new lithium cell?

Thanks

Can take some pics if needed
Did you plug the PSU on the copier?

Yes I'm using a spare snes psu. I also tried it with a universal psu at 9v but it's only 300ma. Could this be the problem?

Most probably. You need to use a +C- 9V 1.2A DC psu. Anything else would potentially damage your SPFQ. I hope you didn't plug a PAL AC SNES psu on it...

AMAZING- you were totally right. It was the power supply. It hooked up the floppy drive to a computer psu and it works like a charm. Thanks so much for your help. I need to find a proper psu now because this setup is not ideal.

Lol, yeah I can't imagine this being the ideal setup. Get your hands on a Megadrive 1 psu or a universal 9V 1A should be enough. Be careful with the polarity and happy gaming Smile
